Licenses for Test and Development Environments
Non-production installations also require an appropriate license.
For test, QA, stand-by, failover, or development environments, separate licensing rules apply to webPDF. At the same time, discounted license models are available for non-productive use.
Which environments are covered?
These include in particular:
- test environments
- development environments
- QA systems
- stand-by or failover installations
- cold-standby environments
- hot-standby environments
Do these environments require their own license?
Yes. An appropriate license is required for every installation on a dedicated server. This applies even if the environment is not used productively.
Are discounted licenses available?
Yes. We offer discounted licenses for non-productive installations. Which option suits your case depends on the number of installations and the intended use.
Is a demo, test, or evaluation version a permanent alternative?
No. The demo, test, or evaluation version is intended only for a limited trial period. For permanent test, QA, or development operation, an appropriate license must be used. At the latest upon purchasing licenses for productive use, corresponding licenses for non-productive use must also be licensed. Use of the demo, test, or evaluation version is then no longer permitted.
What information is useful for a request?
Particularly helpful are:
- number of planned test or development installations
- intended use
- productive license base
- desired server or instance structure
