webPDF 5 - customer wishes come true

webPDF 5

webPDF 5.0 has been available since September 1, 2013.

Version 5 adds new web services for OCR and HTML processing in server-based PDF creation.

webPDF already supports many companies in PDF conversion and processing. As customer requirements continued to grow, this feedback was incorporated directly into webPDF 5 and implemented as new functionality.

Two new web services were added in webPDF 5: OCR and URLConverter. The OCR service converts scanned or digitized fax documents into searchable PDF files. URLConverter converts HTML content retrieved from a URL.

The new web service also supports e-mail conversion from Outlook (MSG) and MIME (EML) formats into PDF documents, for example to store them in archive systems. This is especially useful together with the accelerated PDF/A web service in version 5.

Another frequent customer request was watermarks in PDF documents. In webPDF 5, watermarks can be added as text or images, positioned freely, rotated, and adjusted with transparency settings.

The toolbox web service was also extended with new extraction features, for example extracting text or all URLs from PDF documents.

All new capabilities are available in the webPDF server portal as well, so users can test new features without local installation. The latest webPDF 5 portal version is also available online.

A trial version of webPDF 5 for Windows and Linux in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions is available in the download area.
